Expanding Our Reach
Photocard driving licences in the UK must be renewed every 10 years. The DVLA usually sends a reminder before expiry. You can renew online via the DVLA renewal portal for £14, or at a Post Office or by post using a D1 pack. If your name or title has changed, you must renew by post. You’ll need your current licence, a recent photo (if renewing by post), and proof of identity. Once submitted, your new licence is valid from the date of approval—not the expiry date—and should arrive within one week if done online, or up to three weeks by post. You must return your old licence once the new one arrives.
